In today’s Pittsburgh Post Gazette, the board and staff of A+ Schools urge the administration and board of Pittsburgh Public Schools and the leadership and membership of the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers to resolve the issues related to a teachers’ contract – in a way that avoids a strike and ensures that educating our children progresses without interruption. We urge those parties involved to resolve this contract negotiation positively and keep children as the priority.

High School Reform…..
Coming to a High School Near you!
Schenley is Just the tip of the High School Reform iceberg….
- · ALL High Schools will be “specialty themed” schools
–> no school will stay the way it is
- Four 6-12 schools are in the works
–> Frick and other middle schools will close and their students will be housed with 15-19 year old high schoolers
- Public Money will refurbish already functioning schools
–> Only the massive redistribution of students throughout the district requires this spending on infrastructure not students
- Successful, integrated, functioning schools will be dismantled
–> Many parents and students see parts of this plan as Re-segregation
What we want….
- · Slow down!!
–> Implementation of the radical High School Reform plan cannot move forward without a public process
- · PROVE IT!!
–> Provide documentation and independent verification of all studies, reports, and research supporting these radical transformations of the Pittsburgh Public School System
- · Get Input!!
–> Create a forum for public discussion and input on these proposals
- · Fiscal Responsibility!!
–> No spending public money on any part of a radical plan without significant public buy-in on the specific details of the plan
RALLY! November 27, 5:00 p.m.
